Campo Bar

A classic, reimagined

The Campo Bar opened in 2019 on Helvetiaplatz and was fitted out with outdoor furniture from Embru. The large square lies at the heart of Zurich’s trendy Kreis 4 district and is a regular venue for demonstrations, cycle markets, farmers’ markets and neighbourhood festivals. At its lower end, the former town hall stands like a concrete block. The brutalist building dates from the 1960s and is a typical example of post-war modernism.

A special edition of the classic ‘Haefeli’ chair was developed specifically for this location in collaboration with the relevant operators and the architect Philippe Stuebi. The brief was for a no-frills, durable outdoor chair that would blend in well with its surroundings and meet high aesthetic standards. Instead of wooden slats, this chair features solid aluminium strips. This gives the reinterpreted classic a cool look and, in combination with the tables in a matching special colour, creates a striking contrast to the warm wooden interior.
